About idkwhattobuild

idkwhattobuild is an automated pain point feed for developers, indie hackers, and vibe coders looking for real problems to solve. Instead of guessing what to build, browse validated frustrations from real users.

How it works

  1. Scrape — We collect posts and comments from Reddit and Hacker News, searching for pain-point language across dozens of communities.
  2. Analyze — An LLM reads each raw discussion and extracts structured pain points: what the problem is, which products are involved, and what market trend it aligns with.
  3. Categorize — Each pain point is tagged with a category, industry, related products, and market terminology so you can filter by the space you care about.
  4. Publish — The feed is updated weekly with fresh pain points from the latest online discussions.

What makes this different

  • Product-level analysis — Not just "security" as a category, but specific frustrations with Nessus, CrowdStrike, Splunk, etc.
  • Market terminology alignment — Pain points are mapped to current market terms (exposure management, CNAPP, DevSecOps) so you understand the landscape.
  • Source references — Every pain point links back to the original discussions so you can see the real context.
  • Opportunity scoring — Each pain point is scored for severity and market opportunity to help you prioritize.
